Energy Saving Measures for California Hotels and Multifamily Buildings
No Cost Energy Saving Controllers can be provided and installed through the Statewide Midstream Water Heating Program. All Hotels, Motels and Multifamily Buildings within an approved California territory can have a Demand Recirculation Controller provided through the program which includes installation.
What Is The Controller Provided?
The Demand Recirculation Controller is a gas and electric savings device that will eliminate the wait for hot water and increase the useful life of your hot water system at your building. Each controller has the ability for remote monitoring, which is an optional service, so that you can view the performance and optimize your water heating equipment (and further save) on costs from maintenance and repairs.
How It Saves on Utility Costs
The standalone unit controls the recirculation pump and modulates storage tank temperature (during off peak hours of usage) which reduces hot water energy consumption by reducing the supply temperature when hot water demand is determined to be low with an adjustable fixed control schedule. These control strategies achieve the optimal balance between comfort, water savings and energy efficiency.
Controller Capabilities and Benefits
The Demand Recirculation Controller will help your Hotel, Motel or Multifamily building in the following ways:
- Save Water and Energy
- Increase Building Water Heating Efficiency
- Reduce System Wear and Tear on Water Heating Equipment
- Reduce Distribution Heat Losses
- Reduction of Pinhole Leaks and Pitting
- No Upfront Costs or Monthly Maintenance
- Provided 100 Percent Free of Charge
Remote Monitoring Capabilities Included

Remote Monitoring Features
The Demand Recirculation Controller has Built-in System Performance Tracking Features:
Track and record performance data in real time and view data history, (which can help pinpoint potential issues saving time and money).
Customizable to your system- works with any conventional domestic hot water or solar thermal system.
Have alert notifications sent directly if your boiler or water heater is starting to malfunction to prevent or minimize downtime at your building.
Diminish complaints from tenants, (know about hot water delays before your tenants do).
Maintain efficiency of your water heating equipment and/or Solar Thermal System.
Control temperature settings and your recirculation pump remotely.
No costs, monthly service contracts or upfront charges required.
This is an optional feature. If you do not want Remote Monitoring, you can choose to not use the feature which is included.
Check out our demonstration on how Remote Monitoring works and how to log-in to your account to start tracking your systems performance.

Proven Energy Efficiency
We manufacture these controllers at our warehouse in Santa Fe Springs, California and install them at no cost for any qualifying building in California.
There are proven determined savings from the Gas Technology Institute which shows you the savings you can expect. Overall, the controller reduces total hot water energy use by 30% each month.
Each Buildings Savings Varies on Size for Monthly Savings.

How Do I Have One Installed?
Please contact us so we can qualify your property internally. Installation of the Demand Recirculation Controller takes twenty minutes per system. There are no hot water or service interruptions pre or post installation.
Properties that do not meet program requirements may be eligible to receive funding from a different program for a similar controller.

Program FAQ Directory
Please reach out to our internal Program Director, Juliana Campbell to see if you qualify.
For Hotels and Motels you need to have more than 10 units. For Multifamily properties, you need to have over three units.
You need to have a recirculation pump installed with an available power outlet nearby so that the Demand Recirculation Controller can be plugged in. If your recirculation pump is hardwired, you need to have an available power outlet.
No. Installations are fast and take around thirty minutes. We do not shut off your water and there is no notice required to your tenants as they will not have a service interruption.
There are three temperature sensors that are placed via installation tape.
Temperature Sensor One (T1) is placed on the Return Line. Temperature Sensor Two (T2) is placed on the Cold Water Pipe. Temperature Sensor Three (T3) is placed on the Storage Tank.
Your existing, functioning recirculation pump is plugged directly into the controller. The Demand Recirculation Control is then plugged into the wall.
Note: There is no electrical or renovations done to your existing water heating equipment.
There is no paperwork or applications involved for us to provide and install the Demand Recirculation Controller. There might be an inspection from the program to verify installation who will reach out to you directly.
There are no upfront costs or maintenance on the Demand Recirculation Controllers. The lifespan of the equipment is ten years, after that time period we will get in touch with you for a replacement through the same rebate program or a similar one.
Remote Monitoring can be included at no cost. The Demand Recirculation Controller is compatible with 4G Networks. If you decide to opt out of Remote Monitoring, or if you do not have WiFi that extends to your water heater/boiler room then, you can still receive the controller. If you would like a demonstration of the Remote Monitoring Platform, please contact us.
